Sprucing up the Temporary Library

Stephen and I are having a busy Saturday here at the library...we've had nearly 65 people visit! It has been great to meet many of the patrons and provide a glimpse of what is to come. They all seem eager for us to offer our full services.

On the decorating front, we've added some art to the walls of the temporary library to make it more welcoming. If you like any of the pictures, they are available for loan.

Temporary Library Opens

The temporary library opened on February 23rd. Here we have a picture of Vivian, our head of circulation shelving magazines. At the temporary library you can check out popular fiction and non-fiction for children, teens, and adults, as well as movies, music, and audiobooks. You can also register your card with Henderson libraries and use our self check out machine. The temporary library will be open during the construction process. It contains approximately 3,000 items. The temporary library hours are Monday's 10-6, Tuesday's 10-6, Thursday's 10-6 and Saturdays 12-5.

You Can Hear the Hammers Ring

When I took this shot -- I heard the hammers ringing!

Tools of the Trade

"Master, the Plans!"

Here we have the plans for the renovation. We've been scrutizing them quite a bit lately!

The Wall Comes Down

Here is the wall that gave us a bit of trouble. Removing it requires us to brace another wall across the way. For this we needed a structural engineer. It is necessary to remove this wall in order to put in the new service desk.

Workmen Resurface Floor of Board Room

Here we have workmen resurfacing the new area in the board room. The kitchen was removed and the floor resurfaced to make a larger working space.

Painting Mostly Done

Painting in the east part of the building is mostly done. This is a picture of the entryway, prepped for painting

Work Continues in the Conference Room

Work at the Green Valley Library continues. We are awaiting word from the Contractor about our permit to temporarily occupy the front part of the building so that we can open a mini-library. The following is a picture of the conference room with a worker's hat on the floor.
