Happy Holidays from the Children's Library!

The Green Valley Children's Library hosted a magical Winter Wonderland of holidays around the world on December 21 to celebrate the first day of winter! Kids of all ages learned about different holidays observed across the country and across the globe!

Did you know that in Italy, La Befana is a witch said to bring presents to children on the night of January 5? Or that in Israel children eat jelly donuts for Hanukkah? At the Winter Wonderland program children learned facts like these while creating fun crafts such as African-style masks in honor of Kwanzaa, dreidels for Hanukkah, stocking ornaments for Christmas and 2010 tiaras for New Year’s Day!

Be sure to sign up for our special after-Christmas event too! The Children’s Library will be having a special “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” puppet show on Dec. 26 at 2:00 p.m. along with Grinch bingo and crafts. Register online at or stop by the Children’s reference desk for assistance.

No matter what you’re celebrating, we hope you enjoy a safe and happy holiday season!
